The Athens Gate Hotel is located in the historic district of Athens exactly opposite the Temple of Olympian Zeus. It is 400 m away from the Acropolis, 200 m away from the new Acropolis Museum, and on the doorstep of Plaka, the heart of the tourist district of Athens. It has recently been taken over by new Management, and fully renovated. Its style is modern and simple, as befits the area. New features include LCD TV in all rooms. A hotel in the historic district of Athens

We loved the Athens Gate Hotel for its friendly staff and proximity to major landmarks such as the Acropolis/Parthenon, the Acropolis Museum, and the Temple of Olympian Zeus. It is very close to Plaka and Syntagma squares. Beside visiting historic sites, we spent a lot of time in the restaurants and shops in the old Plaka neighborhood. We just walked and didn't have to bother with metros or taxis. Tip: the south entrance to the Acropolis site is only a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Try to get in between 8 to 8:30 AM and head straight to the Parthenon before the tour groups start to pile up as early as 9:00 AM. The 8/F restaurant of the hotel has a fantastic view of the surrounding area, particularly the Acropolis/Parthenon. My only beef with this hotel is the poor wifi signal.

Excelent value4money ratio

Excelent value for money ratio. The price reflects the quality of services and the hotel's location. Location and service in general are the most excepcional features. Theodora and Eleni were helpful and extremelly kind. Friendliness and professionalism. The place is near all main points of interest. It is worth noticing comfort and cleanliness as well. Atmosphere and aesthetics are simple but nice.

Great location, service and views

Lovely hotel within walking distance of all the main attractions and close to Syntagma and Acropoli metro stops. Excellent breakfast and amazing views from the rooftop restaurant. Great to have a room with a balcony. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

Location, Breakfast, Perfection!!

Great views and comfortable stay! We loved the breakfast every morning..Unbeatable view of the acropolis from the roof. The location couldn’t be any better!!! We didn’t try the dinner but the staff is super friendly at the restaurant! Definitely staying here when we come back to Athens!

Reliable quality for the last 20 years and may be more !

I have stayed in Athens Gate for the last 20 years and have experienced the same reliable quality in its facilities as well as its staff competence. Based on my experience for such a long time in an industry which is generally fickle, it deserves congratulations and recommendation for anybody who reviews to stay in this hotel.
