STEIGENBERGER ALCAZAR HOTEL

Hotel was amazing. Very helpful staff at reception especially Hossam Helal, he went above and beyond to make special holiday. Hotel grounds were immaculate. We stayed in swim up room which was very peaceful. Restaurants are great good food and clean. Will definitely be returning.

This was our second visit to this hotel. It is now under new management and we felt the difference. However that said we still enjoyed our holiday. What we liked: 1. It is spotlessly clean and very well kept. The grounds are beautifully laid out and maintained so it really is lovely. 2. Our room was spacious and comfortable and very well kept by Mohammed who always had a ready smile. 3. There are three large swimming pools so it is never overcrowded. We used the adults only pool where the service was outstanding and nothing was too much trouble for the lovely friendly staff. We really were pampered here. 4. We enjoyed the al a carte restaurants which offered a good variety and quality of cuisine and where there was always a good atmosphere. Our particular favourite was the Lebanese restaurant. The buffet restaurant served a good variety of food which was fresh, well presented and prepared. 5. Any points raised with the management are quickly and efficiently dealt with. Moamen in particular went to great lengths to ensure our stay was as enjoyable as possible. 6. After our first breakfast at the buffet we had a late breakfast by the pool each day. The staff here were amazing friendly and welcoming, anticipating our request for tea and coffee and serving it to us without us even having to ask. Things we didn’t particularly like: 1. It took a long time to be served drinks, one morning we waited half an hour at breakfast in the buffet to get a tea and coffee. After this we took a late breakfast by the pool which was much better. We also had to wait a long time to be served wine in the evening in the buffet. 2. The paved area around the swimming pool is very slippery when your feet are wet. We saw a couple of people fall and we had to take extra care as we too slipped when getting out of the pool. 3. Finally I know it’s not the hotels fault but our experience at Sharm airport on leaving was pretty awful. The staff at the hotel could not have been nicer but the staff at the airport verged on the unpleasant, the security lady who patted me down was irritated that I didn’t understand what she was saying, I did try but I don’t understand Arabic so I did my best all of which was wrong apparently. Security is very tight and that’s fine but it does take ages to get through which is not pleasant when it’s hot and there are long queues.

Hotel clean and rooms and ground tidy. Service was ok not the best and in restaurants that are bookable was terrible. We booked the Japanese restaurant and were in there for over two hours because of slow service and were offered 1 drink during this time. We was sat with dirty plates for over 30 minutes and I had to ask for the plates to be cleared and to my shock out of 4 adults only 1 was cleared and 3 left for another 10 minutes. Buffett food was ok warm but not hot and selection was the same each day. Again service poor sat waiting for a hot drink at breakfast for 15-20 minutes and again on the evening left with dirty plates while eating dessert just unacceptable especially when you can see the hotel is not and full capacity. If you want a decent sun bed in the right spot be prepared to get up early. Most decent places were taken by 7am and then some not used till at least 11am again unacceptable. Would I return to this hotel absolutely not we have stayed in sharm many times and paid less for better hotels.

Beautiful and luxurious hotel where you can enjoy the warm weather and the beauty of Sharm and the Red Sea. The lobby is spectacular, the rooms are modern, the restaurants are beautiful as well. Everything is spotless clean, the gardens stood up the most for me - the gardeners are working all day to keep the paradise thriving. The food is delicious in the main restaurants and a-la-carte as well. The animation isn’t something spectacular. The hotel is more laid back and for people who like calm and relaxing vacation. Few minuses: * most of the staff goes far and beyond to accommodate you, but there are some waiters and bartenders who are rude and roll their eyes if you ask for anything. * breakfast in the main restaurant is chaotic. There are plenty of serves working , yet there are a lot of empty tables that aren’t cleaned for a long time. However I would definitely recommend and would come back.

Stayed here in October and really enjoyed most of the experience. Food is really good throughout and we received great service from the pool team around the adults only pool. My only gripe was the quality of some of the drinks was lacking and the service in the main bar was very hit and miss on an evening. Cocktails never tasted the same, drinks took ages to arrive and were often not what we ordered.
