    Worst hotel in Crete
This is not a 4-star hotel this is only 3 star booked this hotel with jet2 we have never been with jet2, This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in we were asked if we wanted to upgrade for £60 each, we upgraded to gold waistband which states you have access to the pool and bar and a room by the pool you can eat in the restaurant by the pool and have some branded drinks. As far as I could see there was no restaurant by the pool just seating for you to eat from a glass cabinet full of disgusting sandwiches small bowls of salad and some desserts, as for the drinks you have only a limited choice none of the branded drinks I would have liked I asked for JD and coke bar staff said that was £8.00 eoros we were all inclusive, so asked for a cocktail note no alcohol was put in the cocktails the beer is very weak. The food in the restaurant was disgusting Luke warm food not much choice salad bar , limited choice no flavor to anything had a bad tummy for 2 days had to stay in room.very outdated room needs an upgrade. I was making the bed in the room and found the mattress was very stained and dirty I call reception very rude asked what I would like them to do about it lost it, told them to change it never seen anything so filthy they did change it just can't believe I had slept on it. I did ask to speak to the manager they told me he was not in the hotel at the moment how convenient. Didn't find the staff very helpful most of them are rude . This was my first holiday with jet2 and the last. Ended up having to eat out there are some lovely restaurants in Crete and bars .

    Very Highly Recommended
Scheduled to arrive in Malia after midnight and in fact later than than because of a delayed flight, we were welcomed by a courteous, pleasant, obliging and efficient receptionist who informed us that we would find refreshments prepared for us in the fridge in our room. And that first impression set the tone for our holiday. The public rooms in the Solimar Ruby Hotel are spacious, comfortably furnished, calming and relaxing. The standard set by our first contact with the receptionist on night duty was maintained throughout by his colleagues at the desk reception and by the staff in the restaurant and bar and by the housekeeping staff. Some of evaluations of the hotel are not very flattering, but reading through them, the more it became apparent they were from a group of visitors who were looking for a very different sort of holiday than we wanted and whose complaints suggested that the Solimar Ruby would offer us very much what we were hoping for. It did! The hotel is located on the edge of Malia, adjoining fields and olive groves and with views up to the highlands of Crete. The beaches are within just a few minutes’ walk. The hotel’s very pleasant garden, surrounding the pools are well maintained, grassed and with a plenty of shrubs and trees making for variety for eye and offering areas in the full sun, in dappled shade and (especially appreciated by those visitors with sun-sensitive skins) the opportunity to take a break in the shade. There is even a herb garden handily located for the restaurant offers a really good range of delicious food with variety from day to day. Over the last ten years we have visited probably 50 or more hotels. The Solimar Ruby is one we would recommend very highly indeed and before we left we had the opportunity of thanking the Manager, George, personally, and through him, all the staff making our stay so very enjoyable.

    Not the best of Hoteld
Not the best hotel that I have ever stayed in, I had food poisoning from the second day I was there, I had only eaten in the hotel, we arrived at 11pm and were refused a drink as it was 11.05pm , the staff were friendly and the food was very continental, won’t be staying there again

    4* hotel?...more like a 3*
I'm writing this as I'm still here with 2 days left out of 7....(room 515) We " upgraded " to the Ruby royal suite that apparently gives you access to private other pool( anyone can have access as no checks, and people did). Access to branded drinks ( but when here, only a selected few), not the popular ones. Their own branded drinks and cocktails at the pool bars have no alcohol in them whatsoever!(or very little). Also food is bang average with endless flies around restaurant seating area, the seats themselves need the middle cushion area replacing as you sink in the middle of them. My other half has upset stomach, so we have to pay extra now to eat out( we all inclusive). My other half has bite marks on her legs, checked the mattress and it's disgusting with stains all over it....we complained and they did change it , but why wasn't this checked over?...bare in mind we upgraded to the "junoir royal suite" which cost extra £120 per couple! Leaking pipework under sink to top things off! As title suggests, this is a 2* not a 4*!! Not going jet2 again, thus our first time with them...never again. We stick to tui!

    A truly wonderful experience!
A fabulous place to stay. Excellent facilities, great choice of food and the service was impeccable. The bed was super comfy. We stayed in a Junior suite which was beautifully clean and had a daily clean with fresh water and towels. I had a beautiful birthday and we also celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary. Nothing was too much trouble. The staff were amazing and we're above and beyond expectations. A fantastic holiday!
