PARROTEL LAGOON RESORT

Just returned from this hotel which is advertised on the beach as five star it isnt! It also isnt in sharks bay as on the beach advertises its in nabq bay in the middle of no where! Nothing near by you have to get a taxi to any where! Use the taxi app not hotel rip you off! I had to move rooms as the first rooms bathroom and living area was disgusting il upload photos. Indeed any toilets in this hotel are disgusting and certainly not 5 star. I was given a pool view double room (which I hadnt booked!) id booked twin garden view as I was with my 16 year old son. The pool view room also looked straight onto the very noisy entertainment area. I didnt unpack the first night as the next day I requested to move room because of the above issues. They did eventually move us as I was told to send photos and videos of bathroom to member of staff Hady on reception so he could show his manager. This took over most of our first day. The food wasnt great and very monotonus. The on site restaurant was unreal the portions were thst small we went in resurant afterwards. There is nothing vaguely british. You even had to ask for butter for toast everyday. We saw british people several times had ordered Mcdonalds to the hotel! There is no late breakfast its dry pastries thats it. The kitchen staff where rude and grumpy. One of the spa staff aggresively try to sell you massage around the pool. I refused he then continued to say 10 minutes free I didnt want a massage from a man and I also have a health conditon. He still persited to the point my 16 year old shouted at him to go away! He walked off in a huff! The so called Rep only wanted to sell you excursions and was in a huff if you didnt want to buy one. We did buy the posh boat trip to ras mohamed and white island. The boat was beautifull but theres so many boats it dosnt feel exclusive and white island is just a strip of sand with about 500 people on it and 100 boats around it. The snorkelling was good. The food I returned to hotel with Diarrhoea. I was bitten by mosquitoes I ended up seeing a doctor in hotel on my last 3 days for I.V drip and medication hardly left my room ruined holiday.I retund home to call 111 and saw out of hours doctor at 4am and my own GP since. Ive since found out that 5 star hotels usually fumigate communal areas against mosquitoes. The reception and bar area was full of them. i did use spray and aftersun containing repellent aswell. Big Big thankyou to Hady on rception who went above and beyond ordering me and my son MCdonals and kfc whilst I was unwell even when he wasnt working. He also messaged me after he knew I had to visit the doctor to see how I was. John in the shop was amazing too telling me to take the snacks my son wanted and pay when I had egyptian cash. There is an atm where you can withdraw egyptian but people were complaining they couldnt convert cash theyd brought. No cups given even in room for hot drinks! other than bar andhad to ask. Some people took there own. Waterpark was really good and you can get picked up by a cart at the back of the pool as it isnt at side of pool. Beach isnt near hotel but you can get a transfer every hour. Get on early as they pack it. Also check tide times as the tide went out at lunch time. Your allocated a small area at the side of the other hotels parrottell beach resort. My son enjoyed the snorkelling. Take beach shoes as it =s rocky and sand is gritty. I wouldnt visit this hotel given its location and food and lack of fumigation for mosquitoes again. Such a shame cos alot thats wrong vould be fixed other than location Thanks again to Hady !!!!! The only member of staff that wasnt nice cos he wanted a tip! He even refused one, a very kind man. Also Zenab at the spa we had a facial package was realy good and gave us some cream for my sons skin that was dry and irritated when ever we saw her so thankyou to her also for her kindness.

Pictures speak loader than words so I will attach some. In short this is a Two Star hotel not a Five. Staff are friendly and will go out of their way for you but that can’t cover up the negatives. The pool is great, large and spacious but a short walk around the complex and you’re on a building site. Like most guests we changed rooms at least once. The hotel is dirty and poorly maintained and the hygiene rating would not get a one star in the UK. There is a mosquito problem and the room was not sprayed so we found out after the first night with lots of bites when we woke up. The decor is dated and most of the furniture is broken or dirty. The bathroom is poor quality and the water from the shower is yellow at times and the temperature and power are inconsistent. The main dining facility has birds nesting in the dining room and the birds freely flying over the prepared food. The Lebanese restaurant was not open and the Italian basically severed your food from the main restaurant that was plated up and brought to you. It’s not à la carte as advertised. We spoke with other European guests and a similar theme seemed the experience. Don’t let this stop you coming to Sharma and Egypt. It’s a great country and the trips out are fantastic experiences just don’t stay at the Parrotel Lagoon.

Staff very friendly, always helping in the hope for a tip!! I Was stupid and left money in an envelope under the mattress, to find the zip open and over 2000 Egp missing. Learn from your mistakes. Food horrendous, same everyday very repetitive! Animation team lack of interest and very boring. Rooms spacious, need updating or a Lick of paint, the hotel is more interested in building a new empire near the water park to care of the up keep of the old side. Bus that drives you to the water park every 30 mins. Water park - no health and safety what so ever so dont send your children by them selves. Taxi’s to So Ho a little expensive £15 there and back however its only 5 mins down the road, other hotels run a shuttle bus for free every hour. You can visit their sister hotels, Aqua park and the beach. The beach is amazing, take your snorkel from amazon, the food is the same as Parrotal Lagoon, however you may get a colder beer. DRINKS - warm bottles beer given to you in a plastic cup Your choices near the pool are warm beer, soft drinks, there is a bar inside looks posh, still sells warm beer out if a bottle, however a-lot more cocktails and low choice of spirits, vodka and gin. POOL- staff will put your towels out for a tip, do it yourself. Nothing for kids to do only aqua park. My advice - read reviews however ive noticed a few Mickey mouse ones on here which are of course a 5 star lol.

IGNORE THESE NEW REVIEWS. We have just returned from here after 1 week stay with a family of 5 and this is not a 5 star resort. These new reviews regarding the entertainment team is made up at the evening entertainment the team was coming around begging for reviews and taking people's phones and adding the reviews listing how great they are. They start the program at 10am do a little jig for 2mins and then dissappear leaving the same old music on repeat all day they pop back about 2hrs later and do yoga or pool dance they only speak in Arabic on the microphone that nobody understands other then the locals.. They are rude they don't great you or even look at you. So I score entertainment 1 out off 10 absolutely terrible . The food is awful I mean it's dog food there's no order and the locals lap it up like it's there last meal when I went to the reception asking for a number for delivery off food he just handed me his phone for mc delevery and said I no it's bad. They full the orange juice with water the apple well that is dish water flavour. There's no milk for tea anywhere not in room not in restaurant or bar the coffee machine never works no plates no bread nothing. They reuse throw away cups even pull them out off the bin I asked for a orange juice for my 11year old boy and he put it in a dirty glass on top off beer and put vodka in. The rinse them under the tap and stack them at pool bar. Ran out off beer twice and was giving out the premium bottles and adding water to them. The toilets are on next level off filth they stink I didn't on my whole stay see a cleaner in toilet I mean they smell like fish it's that bad.. Theres one tiny shop and perfume shop the lagoon is just a dirty a mosquito pond all the way around the site I don't really understand why it's there as come night time you will get so many bights I took replant from reading reviews but some people literally had to pay doc for antibiotics. The plus the room was cleaned everyday a little shabby in places but was huge the pool staff work hard and are very much doing the entertainment staffs job interacting and playing with the kids etc the water park is falling apart steps broke no alcoholic drinks just coke or sprite out of bottle and the snack are chicken nuggets in a roll and chips every day and they are swimming in oil so here is a honest opinion on the hotel I will be filling a complaint with on the beach as this place is a 3 star I've been 4 times to Egypt and the lagoon is a disaster that needs sorting. from beginning to end. awful.
