Not a 5 star UK standard, yet a Turkish 5 star
Just returned from a week's stay here with my daughter. Let's get straight down to the basic facts - this isn't a 5 Star hotel of UK standards, please keep that in mind - although it is in the eyes of the Turks. Deco of hotel is nice and well maintained. Please note the entrance to hotel is on a steep incline. Staff miserable and rude (expect for barman in the pool bar). Pool not heated, if you visit end or start of seasons you need to brave it or not bother getting in. Clean and plentiful sun loungers. Parasols need replacing (tatty and old). Rooms spacious and clean. Mini fridge stocked and replenished everyday. Maidservice everyday - although for us they forgot the basics of loo roll on a couple of occasions. Noise, now after readying alot of people's reviews this is an issue. The layout of the hotel is open plan from the reception/lobby. All rooms are pretty much visible from the ground floor. Our issue was a group of people having a few too many drinks from the bar (within the reception area) being extremely loud. As you can imagine it was clear as anything on the first floor at 1am. Asked the chap on reception 3 times via a phone call to ask the other guests to be considerate to others whom are TRYING to sleep. Nothing changed until I went down in person. Main restaurant food, nice but same pretty much day in day out of chicken, turkey and fish and perhaps the odd beef dish plus always pasta and tomato sauce. If you are a fussy eater or have food allergies, find somewhere else. Waiters are plentiful and should serve or ask you for drinks, but 9 times out of 10 their too busy chatting or starring at people. Again, we only seen one female on the floor serving. Rest are men. Hotel is out of town and the beach is shingle. WiFi fast is extra. Personally I've been to loads of hotel all around the world and there are loads of better places to go and spend your money in. Please be aware, Antanyla airport is extremely expensive - €3 for 500ml of water €12 for a tube of pringles.

In no way shape or form a 5star hotel
We are currently still staying in the hotel but felt we should already let known our thoughts and maybe the hotel can improve or maybe we can help others avoid being disappointed You can see that the hotel was once a very beautiful place but let’s say it is past its sell by date and is in desperate need of renovation and improvements as well as a good clean! Room we got given an upgrade! Now the room is big and has a huge impressive balcony! However the windows were so dirty you could hardly see through them and the floor was also dirty! There is wallpaper falling off the wall in a couple of places The bed is comfortable however the bed cover if that is what you want to call it doesn’t even cover the full bed! How 2 people should sleep under it I don’t know! It’s also not very soft or comfortable The shower in the room was hardly working but after I cleaned the shower head myself it now works perfectly so dread to think when that was last cleaned properly! Man in reception is really rude! I thought it was something personal as he has been rude to me a few times now however I have also seen him be very short and rude to other guest who also made a comment to me wondering what his issue was! Bar in reception is nice enough but very limited drinks! I don’t drink alcohol myself and no real choices for me for my partner she Dosent really have much variety however the bar man is really friendly Pool area is really clean and impressive! However music is very loud! Bar men there are ok and just need to smile a bit more Food in restaurant is ok but not what we expected when we booked 5star just like a cheep all you can eat buffet not much to choose form other than salad and bread No one seems to know what’s going in regards to entertainment so far haven’t seen anything and when we ask we just get told ask someone else … so maybe they just don’t have any entertainment but don’t want to say that?? Who knows If this was a 3star hotel I would say it’s ok but for 5stsr our expectations are far form being met and we are left feeling very disappointed but going to make do as what else can we do in this situation Would not recommend

Staff are not friendly/would not return.
I have been to Turkey before so I had high hopes for my stay. Turkey as a country is lovely, beautiful beaches and people outside of the hotel. Sadly, that didn’t translate to the staff members my partner and I came across. We could tell we were treated very differently by the majority of staff members and the only difference is that we are black British. Staff were not friendly or accommodating and often made us feel like we were not welcome. They were very standoffish when we asked simple questions. We observed how they interacted with the other guest who were white British/European and it was completely different. They were friendly, chatty and offered to get drinks at dinner etc - my partner and I did not have the same experience. This put a damper on our stay but we spent most of the time out exploring and mingling with the locals who were lovely. In regard to the hotel, Ali, the female receptionist and cleaning lady (I wish I got their names!) and Murat at the bar were the only staff members that were nice to us so thank you to them! The room was nice but the bathroom was an awkward space, the toilet blocked the door and the shower didn’t have a door to stop the water from leaking everywhere. The food was okay. The pool layout was nice. I will come back to Turkey but I will not be staying here. I’d rather go back to Kaila beach hotel as the staff did not discriminate against us.

    A 5-Star Experience in a 3-Star World!
Ah, the Michell Hotel—a place that leaves me scratching my head and wondering how it earned its 5-star badge. Sure, it’s clean and modern, but let’s dive into the details that might make you think twice before booking your stay. First things first: location, location, location! The hotel is perched next to a busy road that stands between you and the beach. If you’re planning to venture out, prepare yourself for a steep hill that feels a bit like a mini Mount Everest expedition. Bring your hiking boots! **Rooms:** The rooms are tidy, and yes, many offer a lovely sea view. But beware! When you check in, if they tempt you with an upgrade to a sea view room for 50 euros, you might already be sitting in one! A classic case of “you might already have it, but let us charge you anyway!” **Bars:** Now, let’s talk about the bars—where my hopes for a refreshing cocktail went to die. The drink selection is as limited as my ability to resist a good pun. Most spirits are the Turkish equivalent of what you’d expect, and if you’re a Bacardi fan like me, prepare for disappointment. They had one measure across all bars, and guess what? It vanished quicker than my willpower at an all-you-can-eat buffet. The only alternative was the hotel’s own white rum, which tasted like it had been distilled from regret. **Restaurant:** If you’re a fan of the culinary trifecta of chips, eggs, and turkey, you’ll feel right at home. Breakfast is a delightful affair consisting of—surprise!—chips and eggs, with a side of mysterious pink sausage that left me questioning life choices. Lunch and dinner? Same story! More turkey, chicken that tasted suspiciously like turkey, and maybe a beef dish if you’re lucky. If you’re hoping for a hearty English breakfast, you might want to bring your own beans and bacon! **Pool Area:** The pool area? Well, don’t expect sunshine until around 10 AM, as it’s in the shade of the hotel. And let’s not forget the delightful ambiance provided by the traffic noise and the charming sound of chickens clucking away at the end of the pool—truly a soundtrack for relaxation! Oh, and the faint smell of chicken waste? Just an added bonus to your sunbathing experience. On a brighter note, the spa is clean and offers a decent range of treatments—definitely a highlight of my stay. As for the entertainment? Let’s just say it was limited and didn’t quite live up to the 5-star hype. In summary, while the friendly staff and clean facilities were commendable, I found a fantastic deal through a third-party booking site that felt more like a 3-star experience. If this hotel were rated as a 3-star, I’d consider giving it a solid 4 stars. But for a 5-star experience? The highest I can go is a 3. Happy travels, and may your hotel stays be ever in your favour!

    3-Star standard hotel with a 5-Star facade
Let’s start with the positives. The hotel is modern and stands out compared to others in the area and Alanya center, featuring a grand entrance and lobby. Upon arrival, the reception team greeted us, assisted with our bags, and provided general information. Our room, which we enjoyed for ten days, was modern and well-kept, with a beautiful sea view. Watching the stunning sunsets was a highlight. I recommend booking a sea-facing room, as the other side overlooks a main road. The food was generally tasty and fresh for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, though it became repetitive, which is expected for an all-inclusive hotel. The catering staff and some bartenders were pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, I don’t have many other positives to report. The cons on the other hand, in summary.. WiFi is only free in the reception area (it cost us €35 for 10 days), the all-inclusive drinks were very limited: soft drinks, one beer, a few cocktails made from boxed juices, a harsh vodka or gin mix, and basic Turkish red or white wine that you need to squint your face with in order to swallow. All other drinks cost extra. The beach was extremely disappointing with a rocky shore, slippery sea floor and it just looked generally rundown. The hotels small deck for entering the water was closed off meaning there was no way into the water. The advertised beach photos most certainly did not match the reality. The two pools within the hotel were pretty good and had comfortable beds. We chose to stay by the smaller pool for fewer people and less road noise. The main road in front of the hotel is very noisy all day and night. It never stops! The evening entertainment was poor, minus the DJ set who were a group that come into the hotel separately. Outside of that, it was really painful and consisted of Bingo (twice), best couple, karaoke which favoured polish music and dancers that started and finished in 20 minutes. The biggest con in our case was the severe anti-gay atmosphere. On the fourth day, a bartender jokingly asked if my partner and I were “lesbians,” which was uncomfortable. This was followed by another bartender at a different pool bar making similar comments, laughing and pointing us out. After the second incident and reporting the behaviour, one bartender apologised but the other continued to make our stay difficult, serving us poorly and giving us hostile looks. It created an extremely uncomfortable environment for the remainder of our holiday and ruined it to be honest. It made us feel pretty anxious in the hotel and there is nowhere else to go. We most certainly won’t be returning to this hotel or Alanya, which felt limited and somewhat unappealing. It is far from idyllic when comparing to other parts of Turkey.
