GOUVIA HOTEL

Arrived before our room was ready, so we decided to have a drink. When the room was ready, they put us next to the swimming pool toilets, not a nice smell coming our way, this was not the room type we booked. Anyway, a room on the top floor facing the main building is not ideal when your knees are knackered. On enerting the room noted that there were cables poking through the ceiling, presumably waiting for new lights, then in the bedroom 2 thick cables randomly taped together. The bathroom shower was a waste of time and had a miss fitting tap, and the curtian was useless. More water went on the floor than down the drain. The bath had a shower and better, though the shower head could do with a clean. Draws on the wardrobe were held together with additional brackets. Then comes the breakfast. Arrived a spot on opening time on a few occasions. The hot food trays and food were COLD, and not appealing, presumed the heaters were not working. Fried eggs looked plastic,scrambled eggs more like a slab of not sure what it looked like,bacon cold. There are plenty of wasps around the open top jars of jam,marmalade, and honey. The fruit corner was ok. Didn't use the swimming pool, but the pool shower tray blue tiles were brown from rust. Reception wanted you to leave your key on the counter when going out, but not put behind in any pegion holes,so anyone could walk in and take one of the reception top.

We stayed about 4 nights at the hotel. The room was very very small especially the bathroom but there was a balcony. Unfortunately the hotel overlooks a very busy street especially at night so it is quite noisy. You also have to pay extra for the air conditioner! There also seemed to be a problem with the water as the pressure was very low at around 6pm every night and on one night there was no water at all. On the upside, the hotel has a pool, is very close to lots of restaurants, the beach and the bus stop.

Just returned from a lovely 10 night stay at Hotel Gouvia. The hotel is ideally located in central Gouvia and is an ideal base for a holiday in Corfu. The room we opted for was basic but suited our needs during our stay. The room was cleaned daily with fresh bedding and towels each time. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis which was ideal for us. The breakfast is plentiful with a wide range of fresh fruits, cereal, yogurt, cakes & pastries and a great selection of hot foods such as eggs bacon tomatoes and savoury pastries to name a few. The staff are friendly and always on hand to offer advice about days out and places of interest. I swim daily when at home so for me the pool was a massive bonus as it is a decent size where you can actually swim and was not full of kids on inflatables like you get in other places. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return if we visited Corfu again. Thanks to everyone who made our holiday a pleasant one. Yammas!

just got back after 10 days in this hotel, the staff were very good, rooms cleaned every day, pool was spotless and clear, breakfast was help yourself, full english and continenal. dinner was ok but you were not given a choice of starters main meal or sweet, sometimes we liked what was given out sometimes we did nt its up to the individual taste. next door is a very cheap cafe so sometimes we went there. would we go back to this hotel, yes definitely. aircon a little bit expensive but we bought a fan from the big green supermarket up the road for 17.50 euros so saved some money. don t forget to tip the cleaners they work 7 days a week and ours was in her 60s bless. enjoy your stay.go on the beach go past the little shop and you get 2 sunbeds an umberella 2 bottles of water for 12 euros

My partner and I have just enjoyed a lovely week at the Gouvia Hotel. The staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and when we requested a move to a ground floor room, this was sorted by the lovely Martha on reception, with no fuss and no additional charge. The pool was lovely, clean and very quiet as it was early in the season. We had visited Gouvia before and still love the area, will come back to this hotel again. One very minor point, having read previous reviews we knew to bring our own travel kettle - I need my early morning coffee well before 8am when the restaurant opens for breakfast!!
