Not what the pictures show sadly
Going to be honest here and say, Egypt is an amazing place with amazing people, buy your experience is made better by the hotel you pick!
We picked JAZ FAYROUZ because of its location, the pictures by the tour operators and reviews which i now find questionable, sorry.
ARRIVAL:
On arrival we were warmly greeted, bags taken off us, checked in, escorted to our room, shown around the room and made to feel welcome. 10/10
THE ROOM:
Not going to lie, I was somewhat disappointed, felt a little deflated.
Room was sadly dated. Bathroom dated and electrics somewhat questionable.
Bathroom had poor lighting with the shower light not working, the wood inside the bathroom rotten around the floor and the shower was a 1980/90s step into a bath and pull a curtain across shower where sometimes – if lucky - you had hot water! Dirty grout all round and a sink hole which had seen better days. For the money i paid, i was expecting something a little more impressive especially with it being a 4 star hotel. Needless to say, us Brits just crack on right. 3/10
The bed and pillows very comfortable, a great night sleep every night…Vodka Slushies probably helped tbf. 10/10
Hot water became a battle of timing sadly. Hot water at 8pm forget it, you're having a cold shower. Get a shower between 6 and 7:30 and your sound, after this its pot luck
ROOM LOCATION:
Now my room was superbly placed by the hotels biggest pool (Small tbf) where I could open the patio doors and jump straight in, superb setup from that point of view. Downside, all the drains appear to be at the front of the hotel where the premium rooms are so late night and early morning you’re hit with the good old drain smell when you open your door. 7/10.
POOL SIDE BAR:
Quickly learnt that i should have read the small print when booking because the pool side bar was chargeable for EVERYTHING!. This meant the pool was dead of life in the main, nobody used it, the bar was always empty, such a shame, the perfect setup and not used by anyone really. 0/10
OTHER POOLS AND BARS:
There are two more pools on the hotel grounds, not big in size at all. The one by the restaurant did provide ALL drinks as part of the all inclusive from 9am to 12am. It made absolutely no sense that you would have 3 pools and only one be included in your all inclusive, never come across this before on my travels! It’s the small things which turn an experience from a 5 to 10 out of 10, and so it’s a shame the premier room I paid for, by the pool, by the bar wasn’t drinks FREE, kind of left a sour taste. Pool by the restaurant 6/10,
The staff at the bars very nice indeed and loved chatting to the English, very polite and caring people. 10/10
BEACH BAR:
Admittedly I didn’t spent a great deal of time at the beach with this hotel because of the bar situation, I actually went elsewhere, paid for a drinks package and chilled at another hotel beach. So you have two bars, the bar which serves alcohol isn’t part of the all inclusive, get your wallet out everything is chargeable. The second bar at the far end of the beach is soft drinks only and is part of the all inclusive. Again, small things make a difference, could have been a 8, 9, 10 out of 10 but sadly it scores 4/10. Nice beach but it’s a trek to get a drink and painful on the wallet if you want something a little more lively.
FOOD:
OK this was my biggest annoyance, the food options are copy, paste and repeat. If you watch your diet, be prepared for a carb overload because there’s rice, pasta, mash, cakes, pastries and more. Meat was BBQ Chicken, Chicken curry, kebab and occasionally Beef. The Menu hardly changed at all so boredom kicked in quickly and so we ended up eating out from day 3 onwards. We’d pop our head in to see if anything new had appeared but sadly not, same old selection, just a different day.
Breakfast was the oddest selection of food, Small boiled sausages, mash, chicken curry, pancakes and cakes! Cereal you had 4 options which is what we ended up eating most mornings. You could get an omelette made fresh if you asked which saved me at times.
Breakfast was 7am to 10am
Afternoon was 1pm to 4pm
Dinner was 7pm to 10pm
There is no snacks between these times
Food staff, very nice indeed, always happy to help, couldn’t fault them 10/10
HOTEL INSIDE BAR:
There isn’t one! There is a bar/pub onsite buy yup you guessed it…ALL DRINKS CHARGEABLE! 0/10
ENTERTAINMENT:
It doesn’t exist - 0/10
NOW THE ANNOYING BIT:
The hotel across the road JAZ DREAMS is the sister hotel which you have access to. The difference between the two is night and day. We met a couple who stayed at this hotel and paid £600 less for the same holiday! Their pool was huge, pool side bar was free for everything. The food options far greater than my hotel, Hotel bar all drinks part of your all inclusive, entertainment at the pool and entertainment at night. It was just so much better, we defo picked the wrong hotel.
If you wanted an all inclusive hotel where there was very little life and you want to pay even more out in drinks, Jaz Fayrous is your place. If you want a hotel which is alive, all drinks and food included, Jaz Dreams is your place.
Would i go back to this hotel, NO.
