AQUAWORLD BELEK

Our stay at this hotel left us with a sense of disappointment. When you choose a five-star hotel in Turkey and pay a considerable amount of money, you expect a high level of service and comfort. But the reality turned out to be quite different. The only things we truly enjoyed were the sea, the weather, and the beautiful grounds. Everything else made us question whether this hotel truly deserves its five-star rating. Issues encountered • When we arrived, we were given the wrong room, which had 3 single beds, even when we had booked a double room. When we complained to the acting manager, as it was late, he told us that no other rooms were available and that we had to wait until the next day to speak to the main manager who may be able to help • Next day we were given a double room, by a lovely staff member called Timi, who spoke good English and apologised for the inconvenience. We waited for a couple of hours while the room was prepared. Once in the room one of the bedside lamps did not work and the shower was blocked and therefore kept overflowing into the bathroom. This was promptly sorted out by their maintenance person. • The rooms that we saw are mediocre and don’t have that 5 star feel, the furniture and decor is old. The air conditioning is intermittent, some days its works well and some days the rooms get hot. I did hear that the rooms above the lobby bar are better, possibly newer • The service? The quality is so inconsistent that it sometimes feels like the staff have no idea what they’re doing. The cleaning was subpar: the beds were not properly made and they forgot many times to issue a bathroom floor matt. Towels weren’t always replenished, and toiletries ran out without being restocked. This is simply unacceptable for a five-star hotel. • The food is another disappointment and the menu was the same every day. The menu was predominantly chicken every single day with some fish and the taste was lacklustre. One would have thought that they would serve Turkish kebabs, which we had to go to the nearest town of Belek, which is within walking distance to taste. • The restaurant’s state was especially unpleasant: there weren’t enough chairs for guests, the tables were often not wiped down. If you left your table unattended, then it would be quickly wiped down and reset for the next guest by staff. Often you came back after getting your food to your table, to find other guests sitting on it. Many times, there were no clean dishes and you had to ask the staff to replenish them • Most bars were very busy, so there was a waiting time for drinks, the cocktails at the bar were made as if the staff had no time to prepare them properly, as they were busy, sometimes it felt as if the drinks were watered down, and the result always depended on the bartender’s mood and the bar attended. We found the lobby bar to be the best for drinks and comfort, but does get busy and seating is hard to find • The internet was unreliable, especially around the pool, there was no connection at all on the beach. Beach towels ran out well before the end of the swimming day, and there weren’t enough sun loungers with shades either. • The infrastructure also left much to be desired. The water slides, while fun, had very limited operating hours, and the inflatable rings for sliding down were often deflated. I fell ill after going into the pool and found that several other guests experienced the same illness of vomiting after swimming in the pools, which raises concerns about water quality. • There are no clothes irons in the rooms, and none are available from reception, you are encouraged to pay for a laundry service, a rate card is present in all rooms • Positives – The snack bar seems to have better food, with burgers, chips, jacket potatoes and is open late. The site is also well laid out with plenty of activities for children and adults who may want to participate. There is a good Saturday market in nearby Belek, that sells quality genuine and fake goods, but they are not cheap Conclusion - It feels like this hotel is just coasting on inertia, they do little to maintain their 5-star status, we did hear from one of the staff that it was getting a makeover in Nov 2024, which remains to be seen, as it definitely needs one. For what they are charging guests and passing themselves as a 5-star hotel, the service, accommodation and poor food variety, don’t match up to this 5-star status

This holiday was our first holiday as a family of 4, we were looking forward to our winter sun holiday. It started off with a great travel day up until we arrived at our room. To which we described as the hotel from the Inbetweeners movie. It was clear that the attention to detail of cleanliness was non existent. The room was not what we had imagined from the pictures on the tour operator site. It was dark, dingy, smelly, dusty and the bathroom door barely opened to what I can only describe as a moldy bathroom that hadn't been cleaned in months. There was limescale, mold and cobwebs everywhere. The wardrobe was smelly so unpacking our clothes was not an option. Although the bed linen was clean, the beds were rock hard. We went with an open mind and gave the food the next day a try. Breakfast....the only thing we ate was the pancakes as we watched them being made fresh. The selection of breakfast food wasn't even continental. I mean, boiled chicken and rice and carrots that was there from the previous night...YUM! The food area was packed and understaffed. The pool was clean but freezing and the slides were fun but only opened at specific times by the life guards. There was very limited entertainment on during the day (not even frequent like the website stated) The entertainment on the nights didn't start until 9.30pm and even then we only seen them set up once on the night we arrived, yet the neighbouring resorts seemed to be entertaining, we heard karaoke, (one lady absolutely smashed 'my heart will go on') Discos and games being played. We thought that because it was the weekend when we had arrived things may pick up on the Monday, they did, they had water zumba of some sort and that was it. The slide times stayed the same and the ice cream bar only had 4 flavours of choice. However by day 4 there was none left and the ice cream bar didn't open. The mini snack bar for lunch seemed to have better choice, until I bit into a burger and it was raw. The pool bar was no better as they ran out of soft drinks leaving limited choice. My 10yr old asked for a drink, turns out he was given an alcoholic one. One our last day the slides were shut completely as was the pool bar, and there was no snacks or entertainment. We felt like we had imposter syndrome. In the end we visited the Land of Legends to round up our holiday. This experience didn't stop us from making our own fun, we didn't depend on the hotel for fun but it certainly hindered out choice of thinking of returning to Turkey.

Just come back from holiday in aquaworld belek the resort have good potential but definitely not 5star hotel. I have been in 3star hotels before and I had better food and entertainment. The water was cold(no heated pool) small selection of food (not the best anyway) rooms standard as 3 star, first 3 days no on even swept the floor I had to ask for it. Possibly cleaner took some money from my daughter purse and even sweets and braslets +fridge magnet. Bad experience. Won't be back there definitely.

It’s sooo pity Aquaworld is closed. And we were going to visit it next April. We’re grateful to all the staff for our great experience! Then we’ll have to book the hotel nearby and miss you))). Good luck! Hope to see you sometimes in the near future.
