ACROTEL ATHENA VILLAS

This is a remote annex of Athena place and was at the begging an extraordinary place with a typical Greek hospitality, a bar open all day with a friendly staff, serenity et. However this has changed dramatically and the approach is very commercial and artificial. The bar is closed no service on the beach no staff available and the equipment is getting old with problems like the shower. On the top prices have doubled for the last five years, breakfast originally offered is now an extra, etc Is is very sad to see that this area of Greece becomes as touristic as some other locations and that the direction of the hotel is happy with that. More money for less service the good receipt to destroy hospitality and Greek image.

One detail that casts doubt on the overall quality of the Acrotel Athena Pallas Hotel: The mini golf course (10 EUR/hour) is very, very bad, I would say unusable: - only five tracks - on all paths, the carpets (with which they are covered) are damaged in several places and divert the path of the ball - if you touch the carpet, a green color remains on your fingers - the wooden bases on which the tracks are partially rotten and warped - three of the five lanes are covered with leaves from the trees and the balls turn and bounce. We were there on July 2 around 2:00 p.m. and never more!

With its white and blue exterior, complemented by the world renowned, picture perfect colour of the Aegean Sea, the buildings of Athena Villas seem taken out straight from a fairytale. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, with direct access to a private beach, Athena Villas are ideal for guests who want to spend a quiet summer vacation, far from those noisy and crowded cities. When it comes to accommodation, the options aren’t many, but enough for discerning travellers who know what they want. You can choose between maisonettes (area: 65 square meter), suitable for 2-3 persons, and apartments (area: 38 square meters) suitable for up to 4 persons. Regardless of your choice, the sea views are included in the “menu”. And we couldn’t get enough of them! I loved watching some amazing sunsets from the outdoor area located next to the BBQ zone. Here you can enjoy your favourite cocktail, sample some Greek beers (Alfa, Mythos, Mamos, etc) or try some delicious Greek specialties accompanied by the sound of the waves splashing on the beach near-by. Besides the scenic location, clean rooms and the food options, the good service was another thing worth mentioning. Professional staff, always there when you need them, exuding Greek hospitality. Of all the staff members, I would like to single out and congratulate Marilena (from Reception and the Bar), who won me over with her positive attitude, a charming smile and her extensive travel knowledge. If someone deserves a bonus or being promoted for true “service with a smile”, then Marilena is that employee! Looking forward to returning to this charming place next summer or even sooner.

Idyllic place either for family or for couple vacation. There you can enjoy tranquility and total relaxation! Can’t wait for summer 2019 to visit this place again. Our little toy poodle enjoyed her vacation as much as we did! ❤️
